MAY 13TH MARCHES TRANSPORT FESTIVAL, LUDLOW

Past_Events_2018_-_05-13_Marchesa

Eight CCCC members made the journey to the lovely market town of Ludlow. Seven of us travelled down the night before and stopped at a local hotel where we once again sampled the delights of the local cider and gin! The weather was lovely for the drive down and remained so for the whole weekend. As the festival is just a part of a much larger food festival there was plenty to see and eat. This year we all managed to find our way out of Ludlow together and missed getting tangled up in the Ludlow horse races. Unfortunately CCCC didn’t win any prizes this weekend, I think we needed the glitterball!

MAY 2ND CATTON HALL CLASSIC CAR SHOW

Well the weather was certainly set fair for our attendance at this regular event in the early season calendar. Once again we had a prime location right in front of the hall, and this year I even remembered my camera. The day followed its normal format of chatting, sitting, walking and eating. On this occasion we were joined by two members on their first trip out with the club, Murray and Joan with their lovely Mercedes, and they certainly brought us luck as CCCC won the best club stand, aided no doubt by the addition of a glitter ball in the club gazebo, thanks Gary!

MAY 2ND CHARITY CHEQUE PRESENTATION

Past_Events_2018_-_05-02_Cheque_Presentation

We had a representative from Marie Curie, Julie, visit us at our May meeting to accept our cheque for £600-00. She gave us a short talk which gave the members an idea of what the money raised would go towards. Roy Barrat, erstwhile member of CCCC and CPET also received a cheque for £200-00 on behalf of Claymills Pumping Engines Trust. That brought our total charity donations for 2017 to £800-00!

APRIL 24TH DRIVE IT DAY NMA

Past_Events_2018_-_04-24_Drive_It_Day

One contingent of the CCCC met at our normal meeting point, the old Little Chef on the A38, and proceeded from there to the Arboretum. On arrival we were directed to our normal parking spot on Yeomanry Avenue and after a bit of toing and froing we all eventually got settled. Some members were already there and were busy looking at the cars on show. There was a lot of building work going on at the Arboretum this year but Tony and Pauline had still pulled it off, a great curtain raiser to the season ahead. By the way, we had twenty three CCCC vehicles in attendance, not quite a club record but a great showing nevertheless.

APRIL 4TH SECRET AUCTION

There was some frantic bidding going on at the Pumping Station on the occasion of our annual Secret Auction. We had Sotheby’s on standby and there was a rumour of some secret telephone bidders! What a result in the end though, £187-00 raised for our nominated charity for 2018, Staff’s and Shrop’s Bloodbikes, and everyone had a great time as well.

APRIL 1ST MIDDLETON HALL

Past_Events_2018_-_04-01_Middleton_Hall

Only four members took the opportunity to attend the first show of the Middleton Show season. For it was a shakedown run with problems to be rectified, for others a pleasant run out in early spring. Hopefully things will start to pick up attendance-wise soon!
